The IMAGES (Interconnections for Making Africa Great Empowered and Sustainable) Initiative has made significant strides in promoting sustainable development across Africa in 2023, touching lives and creating impact through innovative programs and strategic partnerships.
Highlights of Our Journey
Empowering African Talent
Our Africa Graduate Mentorship and Coaching Programme (AGMCP) attracted 152 applications, selecting 32 talented fellows. Seven public webinars engaged 240 participants, spreading knowledge and inspiration across the continent.
Environmental Conservation
We took meaningful steps to protect our planet by planting 12 fruit-bearing trees across seven species and establishing a half-acre garden with diverse vegetable plants. Our Carbon Offset Programme continued to support local biodiversity and sustainable food systems.
Building Partnerships
We forged powerful connections with key organizations, including the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA). These partnerships aim to drive sustainable development and address critical challenges across the continent.
Academic Contributions
Our mentorship program made significant academic strides, with mentees submitting 14 conference abstracts and producing 5 publications, including research in the Journal of Cleaner Production.
Our Commitment Continues
As we reflect on 2023, we remain dedicated to our mission of creating transformational partnerships that advance the Sustainable Development Goals and Africa Agenda 2063.
