2020 AGMCP Cohort

Dr. Omobolaji Olubukunmi, Obisesan is an Agricultural Economist by training from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State Nigeria (2014-2019), she is rounding up her post doctoral research work with Interconnections for Making Africa Great Empowered and Sustainable (IMAGES Initiative) a non for profit research and advocacy outfit on Sustainable Development and Climate Change (Nov, 2019-Nov, 2020). She has undergone different research and policy advocacy training equipping her to able to work with different researchers and research teams from all over Nigeria, ranging from the academia (The University of Ibadan), research Centres (Centre for Sustainable Development, University of Ibadan), research institutes (Nigerian Institute of Social and Economic Research-NISER-), Nigerian Government (Bureau of Public Enterprises-BPE- and the Nigerian Ports Authority-NPA. She was a team member on a Rural Financing World Bank Project-RUFIN. As a post-doctoral researcher, she has served as an adjunct lecturer for West African Service Centre on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) in collaboration with Dr Olawale Olayide (Programme Coordinator and Sub-Dean, Centre for Sustainable Development University of Ibadan), she has reviewed many papers for African Journal of Sustainable Development (AJSD) and WASCAL, under the tutelage and in collaboration with Dr. Olawale Olayide. She lives in Ibadan, Oyo State Nigeria with her family.

 

 

Mohammed Abiola is a stern advocate of the SDGs and its practical implementation in Sub-Saharan to achieve a quantum part of the goals. He is a sustainable development practitioner and researcher with a special interest in environmental science and management, sustainable cities and communities as well as Smart Agricultural practices. He coordinates and organises development-related programs. His areas of expertise include conducting research, writing, collecting and analysing data. In the last one year, he has received training in data analysis and designs, worked as a researcher on assessing the Impact of Kenya Cereal Enhancement Program on the Livelihood of Smallholder cereal farmers in Embu County, Kenya; worked as a researcher on a Policy Brief team project on Agriculture and Sustainable Development in Rwanda; and has been involved in Green Growth and Green Economy project, Sustainability Science and Ecological Systems team projects for UI-CESDEV. On the side, he helps people/companies, brands and agencies engage and convert a steady stream of ideal customers leveraging on up-to-date digital marketing tools and techniques. He is mentored by Prof Hussein Tahir Sulieman

 

Oni Blessing Fiyinfoluwa is a nutritionist by profession and researcher by career. He started his journey as a nutritionist in the University of Ibadan where he completed his undergraduate and masters’ degrees. He currently runs his doctoral studies. He has a passion to see to a developed Nigeria with improved nutritional and health outcomes. His first postgraduate research was on evaluating political commitments to nutrition in Nigeria using Lagos State as a study State. Currently, he is undertaking his doctoral research on incorporating nutrition components into social protection programmes in Nigeria. Oni had been involved in various researches of National interest including the End of Project Evaluation of a Multi-Partnership Universal Salt Iodization Project where he worked as a research assistant. He was the Principal Investigator for the Photograph Grid for Fortification Assessment Coverage Tool (FACT) II. He has affiliations with professional bodies including being a Graduate Member, Nigeria Institute of Management (NIM) and the Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN). He won the University of Ibadan Postgraduate Conference Grant in 2015, One of the Top Ten Young Nutritionists in Nigeria in 2015 and a Nominee Best Young Nutrition of the Year in 2017. He is mentored by Dr Dontsop Nguezet

 

Gboluwaga Olaomo has over 4 years’ experience in Sustainable Development. He is a graduate student in Sustainable Development Practice (Environmental Sustainability) at the University of Ibadan, where he also doubles as a Graduate Research Intern. Gboluwaga won a research grant from the prestigious International Funds for Agricultural Development (IFAD) Grant for his Master’s project on Climate change Adaptation Practice among Smallholder Dairy farmers in Rwanda. He is the Founder of GoForIt Africa, a Sustainable Development driven network that projects the activities of young Africans who are leading the continent in the drive for the achievement of the UN-SDGs and provides them with mentorship, project evaluation and monitoring,  project upscaling, and capacity development. Gboluwaga has conducted training and trained over 200 small business owners on Businesses and SDGs and has used the platforms to showcase the activities of over 15 African Initiatives working to actualise the Global Goal on the continent. As an academic, Gboluwaga has written and published academic papers in his research interest which include Climate Change Adaptation, Resilience and Mitigation, Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security, Sustainable Business and Circular Economy. Some of his research papers have been published and presented in International conferences. Gboluwaga is an active member of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network and the United Nations Major Group for Children and Youths. When he is not training or researching, Gboluwaga is writing, travelling or engaging in intellectual development discussions. He is mentored by Dr Olawale Olayide

 

Clare Kyomuhendo is a PhD student at the Regional Institute for Population Studies, University of Ghana, Legon. She holds a Masters of Philosophy (MPhil) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in social work from University of Ghana and Bugema University, Kampala- Uganda respectively. Her research interest focuses on the aged; gender; intersectionality of vulnerabilities; and HIV/AIDS and how its effects more especially the vulnerable people. She also has an interest in disease distribution and the health needs of the human population. Kyomuhendo has had the privilege of presenting in local and international conferences on mental health, HIV and AIDS and Ageing issues. She has a passion for helping others, thus involving in a variety of community services. She is mentored by Dr Aderomola Adeola

 

 

Ifeoluwa Olawale Caleb is a postgraduate student of the Centre for Sustainable Development (CESDEV), University of Ibadan. He has attended conferences and has a publication on youths in Agriculture. His research interests include: Sustainable Agriculture, Youths in Agriculture and Agribusiness development, Climate Smart Agriculture, Resilient Agriculture, Biogas Generation and Storage, Food Security and Rural Development. He is mentored by Dr Mahayao Adolphe

 

 

 

 

Isaac Ejakhegbe has seven years of experience in the non-profit sector with a focus on health promotion, maternal health, as well as issues on gender equality and HIV/AIDS. Isaac earned a master’s in Public health from the University of Ghana and was awarded the best graduating student of his set. Isaac currently works as a state coordinator and program Officer at Wellbeing Foundation Africa, he is responsible for monitoring and evaluating the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (LSTM) collaborative project for improving the quality of care on maternal and newborn health in Kwara State Nigeria, strengthening family planning (FP) into mama care project, and managing the Alive and Thrives grant to improve infant and young child feeding practices in high-burden Kaduna and Lagos communities, Nigeria. In 2016, Isaac was named a winner of the “120 under 40: The New Generation of Family Planning Leaders” Award. Isaac is also passionate about health blogging and his article has appeared in the Lancet Global Health Blog, Maternal Health Task Force-Harvard School of Public Health among others. He is also the recipient of the prestigious Women Deliver Young Leaders Fellowship Award where he was given a seed grant to end female genital cutting in Nigeria by filling the gaps left by the 2015 Violence against Persons Prohibition Act. He is mentored by Dr Olawale Olayide

 

Oludele Folarin is a PhD student in the Department of Economics, University of Ibadan, Ibadan, Nigeria. His research interest centres on having a better understanding of African Development, with the aim of contributing meaningful conversations on how to develop the continent. Within the last five years, he has conducted researches that provide insights to the following issues: Stability of Money Demand in Nigeria and various economic bloc in Africa, financial liberalisation, financial inclusion, and tourism development in Africa. His PhD thesis is on the banking sector in Nigeria with the intents of understanding factors that contribute to non-performing loans by banks. Within the last two years, Oludele has also developed an interest in deepening his knowledge on the source of livelihoods so as to better understand how individual income could be enhanced. He is mentored by Dr Mahayao Adolphe
