Circularity Africa Conference 2024

The annual Circularity Africa Conference is organised to keep track of the progress of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals 2030 (particularly, Goal 12) and the Africa Agenda 2063. The 5th edition of the conference will focus on issues that will engender environmentally sound management of chemicals and wastes in Africa.

Theme: Achieving environmentally sound management of chemicals and wastes in Africa

The conference will explore issues around the following sub‑themes:

  • International multilateral agreements on hazardous waste and other chemicals
  • Air, water, and soil pollution
  • Food, nutrition, and biofortification
  • Chemical pollution and bioremediation
  • Desertification and climate change
  • Food safety and health
  • Regenerative agriculture
  • Plastic waste
  • Electronic waste
  • Biodiversity management
  • Chemical management and ecocide
  • Carbon footprints, carbon offset, and deep decarbonization
  • Petrochemicals and divestment
  • Industrial ecology and eco‑industrial parks
  • Chemical trade and ultimate producer responsibility
  • Oceans and blue economy
  • Renewable energy and green growth
