2021 AGMCP Cohort

Etse Yawo DZAKPA is a PhD student in climate change economics at West Africa Science Service Center on Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL), Graduate Study Program at Cheikh Anta Diop University, in Senegal. His particular interest in Energy poverty alleviation in developing countries through renewable energy deployment, climate change mitigation, natural resources and environmental management, and circular economy by agribusiness development, has allowed him to undertake a specific studies program and has a strong academic background. DZAKPA owned the master’s degree in Naturals Resources and Environmental Economics as an Interuniversity graduate program (PTCI) scholar in 2019 at Felix Houphouet Boigny University (Cote d’Ivoire). This program allowed him to participate in team workshops with several people from eighteen francophone countries in Cote d’Ivoire and Congo Brazzaville in 2017. He obtained his bachelor’s degree in 2014 at the University of Kara (Togo) with a specialization in Economics and International Finance. As 2021 African Graduates Mentorship and Coaching Program (AGMCP) fellow, He is expecting a curative training on research writing and life coaching for my professional career. Afele John Tennyson is studying for a PhD in Agroforestry at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi – Ghana. His research focus is centred on the alternative livelihood for cocoa farmers as a climate change adaptation strategy in different ecological zones in Ghana. He expects to gain more knowledge on research globally through networking. Afele is mentored by Prof. Raphael Babatunde

 

 

 

Rotimi Oluseyi Obateru is a master’s student of Environmental Management in Pan African University Life and Earth Sciences Institute (PAULESI), University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Geography with First Class Honours from the University of Ibadan in 2016 and a Master of Science degree in Geography from the same university in 2019. He has co-authored 4 journal articles in reputable international journals, and one textbook, 4 conferences papers among others. His research interest straddles water resources, climate change and environmental management and particularly interested in applying geospatial techniques to evaluate and mitigate the challenges of water availability and environmental degradation to a sustainable end. He believes the AGMCP fellowship will enshrine and foster his passion for academic research, and the promotion of sustainable and ecologically pleasing atmosphere for Africa. Oluwatosin Adefunke Adetuyi is a masters student of the Molecular Drug Metabolism and Toxicology Laboratory, Department of Biochemistry, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. Her research interests include Reproductive Toxicology, Environmental Toxicology and Neurotoxicology. Her expectations from the fellowship are to receive adequate mentorship that will enable me to gain grounds in the field of Toxicology and also aid my aim of achieving translational science and have a better understanding of the nitty-gritty of publishing. Oluwatosin is mentored by Dr Femi Molehin 

 

 

 

 

 

Effam Afi Glover is a postgraduate student at the University for Development Studies, Ghana, where is studying for an MPhil Degree in Community Health and Development. Before enrolling into graduate school, she completed a BSc. Midwifery Degree with a Second Class Upper (Hons) and she currently works as a Midwifery Officer at the Tamale Teaching Hospital located at the Northern Region in Ghana. She enjoys volunteering at the Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG). She expects to get receive mentoring in the field of cultural and scientific research and get understand the dynamics in her area of research interest. Effam is mentored by Dr Olufunke Alaba

 

Unzimai Innocent Vulou, holds bachelors of Science in Horticulture of Makerere university-Uganda. He has been a Research Assistant at Makerere University Regional Center for Crop Improvement (MaRCCI), An Eastern and Southern African Center of Excellence. Currently, Mr.Unzimai is a postgraduate student of “Msc. Plant Breeding & seed Systems” at Makerere University (Kampala-Uganda). His postgraduate research focuses on “Inheritance of resistance to cowpea bruchids (Callosobruchus maculatus) within a cowpea bi-parental population”.  His interest lies in Quantitative Genetics, Biometrical Statistics and Bioinformatics. Mr.Unzimai admits that he is a passionate researcher and he’s enthusiastic to be part of AGMCP 2021 cohort. Unzimai is mentored by Prof. Victor Adetimirin

 

 

Abosede Temitope Olajide is currently studying for a Master’s degree program at Ajayi Crowther University Oyo, Oyo State, Nigeria. Her research interest is in the field of Immunology, drug Toxicology and Pharmacology. She looks forward to having a close-knit with professionals in my field of research to be able to be groomed for her career aspirations. Abosede is mentored by Dr Sharon Osawe

 

 

 

 

 

Ayoade Desmond Babalola is a graduate student of the Department of Biochemistry, University of Ibadan. He is passionate about Cancer Research, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics and general Biochemistry to find the translational result from bench to bedside. He desires that the fellowship will expose him to the act and art of the world recognizing research as well as dissemination of the result via publications and public engagement. Bright Danso Appiagyei is a graduate of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana. He is currently pursuing a PhD program in Forest Science at the University of Tlemcen, Algeria. Bright’s main research interests are land use and land cover changes, fire ecology, forest carbon stock, biodiversity and climate change. Upon completion of his training, Bright’s seeks to be equipped and endowed with the necessary skills and methods for cutting-edge research to promote sustainable development in Africa. Bright is mentored by Hussein Sulieman

 

 

Favour Adedze is studying for a master’s degree programme MSc. Environmental Engineering Management) at the University of Energy and Natural Resources, Ghana. Her research interest is in creating a safe and sustainable environment, health and livelihood, and in light of that Solid Waste Management and Livelihood/ Zero Waste. Favour Adedze is mentored by Prof. Abel Olorunniola

 

 

 

 

Deborah Ajeboriogbon is a master’s student at the centre for sustainable development (Cesdev), University of Ibadan Nigeria. She is a social development expert and a stern advocate of the 17 sustainable Development goals(SDGs). As a development Practitioner, my research interest is in Environmental sustainability and Early childhood development. My area of Expertise include communication for development (C4D), Monitoring and evaluation, Research writing and Reporting, Advocacy and Awareness Presently she volunteers with REES Africa, A renewable Energy and Environmental sustainability organization that advocate for clean and affordable energy in Lagos. In 2020, she was a beneficiary of the Ashdam solar Academy scholarship in which 20 exceptional women were trained and mentored on Renewable Energy. Aside from professional work, she is passionate about good governance and leadership. Deborah is mentored by Dr Olawale Olayide
