The role of youngsters in providing sustainable solutions to the protracted sustainability challenges in Africa has been overlooked. However, the intellectual and youthful energy of secondary school students can be harnessed to create novel and competitively priced goods, processes, systems, services, and procedures that can satisfy societal needs and bring quality of life to all people with a life-cycle wide minimal use of natural resources per unit of output through reuse, repair, re-purposing and recycling of materials.
Therefore, the objectives of the Africa Green Innovation School Challenge are to inculcate the culture of caring for the environment in the students, and to promote youth entrepreneurship.
